BIOGRAPHY
Born and raised in Québec, Martine studied in music, and had an active, passionate musical life. Drawing was always present, but spontaneous and innocent. It was with the inspiration of Mme. Lucie L Villeneuve that her visual artistic life began. The discovery of Watercolour was the inception of a new artistic passion. Living in Toronto and involved with diverse Artistic organizations, she has participated in numerous juried shows where she won several prizes and sold many of her works that can be found in Canada and Europe. She perfected her Art through diverse workshops with National and Internationally renowned artists, but it is with the sage advice and inspiration of Americo Del Col that she refined her creativity and her Art. Inspired from teaching music and visual Arts for kids and adults, Martine‘s new passion is to promote and demystify watercolour and drawing for everyone to enjoy. More than 20 years of experience already!
Watercolour is a rich, fascinating and versatile medium that offers different approach from realistic to very loose, harmonizing my personality and my creative aspirations. My source of inspiration is open, large and infinite. A variety of subjects can captivate my interests. My curiosity leads me to a point of originality that moves me, inspires me and sets in motion my creations.
My process can be conventional while I study, plan and go with the flow or, I improvise, just as playing piano. I plunge into a real spontaneous, intuitive “Live Happening”. I paint from my heart. Using the basic techniques of watercolour and mixed media, I work with the force of water that interacts in wet and dry areas, offering distinct designs, unique to this medium. When a viewer captures the intelligence of a painting, I feel the success of the expression. A real bonus.
My experiences of teaching watercolor & drawing to kids and adults proves to me that both disciplines are learning skills, for everyone to experiment. To learn and use an artistic language has a tremendous influence to access and enjoy our artistic ability.
